Maluhia was inspired by a commissioned piece I made of a hula dancer for a friend, who coincidentally, is also a hula dancer. These hula dancers are special to me, because they were the first people I created, and they represent a connection to Oahu where I spent my youth. Maluhia means peace, and I love her peaceful and fluid pose. The dimensional skirt features an original border design inspired by Hawaiian art.
